So now finally in Sydney- it is positively huge!We have seen a lot in the past week or so on our way here from Newcastle.

The van is now running fine and we decided to detour up into the blue mountains before entering the city. Sydney's maze of outer city roads led us up 1000+ meters into the blue mountains. We camped at Katoomba and absorbed the sights breifly before bed. Overnight the temperature hit below freezing- we kept waking to huddle closer together in hope of avoiding pneumonia! Once the sun rose the next day, sightseeing took priority and we walked through bush and along cliff tops with stuning views comparable to that of NP's in America. Anne stated the valleys were like a wooded Grand Canyon.

We batled out way through town, avoiding toll roads, onto the northern beaches. The city layout itself revolves around the centre nuclues of the harbour bridge and wharfs. The bridge devides north and south and there is great rivalry as to which suburbs hold the best surf, although, everyone agrees the western suburbs are the worst to be in at any point!

We stopped at Palm Beach, the north-most beach, Home and Aways' set, Anne was very chuffed. We made our way south along famous surf front to Manly where we met our friend Nat from Hawaii, who's parents took us in while we try to sell the van.

Since arriving we discovered our car is not eligible to be sold at the backpacker's car market without another lump of cash being spent. We posted some flyers in hostels and online, but as of yet have had little response.

We spend most of our time on Manly beachfront, either with a surfboard or nice hot cappuccino in our hands! Been to Bondi, driven over the Harbour Bridge and Nat took us out to see the night life where we went to the Rocks (very nice) took LOTS of piccies and had some divine pancakes at a swanky little place called Pancakes On The Rocks.

Nat's dad took us out for a quick sail in the harbour on his yacht, on the only sunny day we've had for a while- it's a tough life

We have too much stuff to continue backpaking, so keep a mindful eye on eBay for listings of well used backpacker stuff!

(oh yes, and sorry mum, i do have dreadlocks!!!anne takes no responsibility!)
