Edit Blog Post

Sorry for the lack of updates lately. There are multiple reasons why I haven't. One I have been in a crappy mood and didnt feel like subjecting everyone to my rants. I wasnt getting very much sleep because there were some American undergraduate students in our dorm building and they were loud all night long every night! Also being nauseated all the time doesnt make you sunny happy. I am feeling much better now. I have dropped my internship which I really did not want to do but I was so exhausted all of the time I could not do it anymore. BTW why do pregnant women glow??? This is really not a lot of fun. You cant drink alcohol or caffiene, cant take headache medicine, food tastes funny and you change your mind about what you want every 5 seconds. (Richard this is ALL your fault). Two I have been to exhausted to do anything!

Anyways, today I had a relaxing day. I had class in the morning and then headed down to the city centre. I had pizza at an italian restaraunt (named Pacino's). One observation- customer service here is very different from the US. Meals are never in and out things. You have to wait forever for the waitress to help you. Then I walked around the city centre and went to the tourism office to pick up brochures and such to plan my weekend. Along the way I stumbled upon a place called the Chocolate Cafe. How in the world was I supposed to resist a place with CHOCOLATE in the name??? Best hot chocolate I have ever had! It was made with chocolate shavings and had real double cream on top with chocolate shavings sprinkled on it. YUM! I also got a couple of chocolates to savor later on. The amazing thing about the chocolates over here is that you can really only have one in a 2-3 hour time span. They are so rich even I can't stand several at a time. On the bus back to campus a couple asked me how to get somewhere (apparently I look Irish), I actually was able to help (imagine that me....who gets lost EVERYWHERE!). To be fair they needed to get off near the American Embassy and I had noted where that was my first few days here. They were from Ohio and have moved to Ireland to retire.

I have responded to some of the comments left on my blog--apparently people do not get notification when I do that. If you left a comment then you might want to check back after a day or two. (I am in no way promising that I have responded to everyone's comments)

I have now been dubbed Mamma and quite a few people are calling me that now. Great...I am already losing my own identity. = P

BTW it is raining here...imagine that...apparently it doesnt rain like this normally. They usually have "soft" days were it kind of mists all day long, but this is actual rain. It is so different from rain in Oklahoma though. It is strange to have rain without thunder, lightening, and wind. Another strange thing about being here is how long the days are. It gets light between 4:30 and 5:00 and doesnt get dark until around 11:00. At 10 PM you can still drive around without your headlights on!!! It makes it a little difficult to go to bed when it is so light outside.

Ok enough babble. I am also adding an update with stuff we did last weekend!

Chocolate
MMMMMMMM! Wow am I jealous! On the identity thing - you will never lose yours! One of the reasons I love you - you're a special, strong, unique individual. And as the bossy mother-in-law type, if you lose your identity to your children, they will never develop ones of their own! Enough serious stuph - guess I went off the deep end there a bit. Go back to the chocolate place and have hot chocolate for me! Love you!

Bad Days
Kirsten, this to shall pass, as they say. Just bear in mind the end result that awaits you and that sickness and exhaustion is just a thing all pregnant women must go through, but at least it is due to pregnancy and not just an illness. You will make it through and keeping active both in body and mind will help you occupied. I do hope your morning sickness passes quickly. You may wish to try some soothing herbal teas with peppermint, chamomille (sp?), lavender, etc. A lavender scent under your pillow is soothing and just some peppermint candies to pop in your mouth may also help. Anyway it can't hurt! Take care and I Wish You Enough. (You will know what that means if you have read an email I sent to you and our family a couple days ago. Keep going strong.
