The Beach of Fraser Island
Nothing but blue skies and white sand, and the odd 4x4 The people at work can't believe how busy I am, doing something every weekend, but I told them, its like I'm living in dog years, and am starting to feel that my days here are numbered with only 2 months to go 😞
A few weeks ago I finished the Queensland half marathon in just under 1:55:00, which beats my previous time by almost 2 minutes. May not seem like a lot, but I was pleased. Its an accomplishment just to not have fallen asleep on the run it was such a boring route. Also, trying to find a spot to pee behind some bushes in an industrial park didn't prove to be so easy!
For the Queen's birthday long weekend, John, Andrea and I went to Fraser Island, the largest sand island in the world. We rented a LandRover and cruised up the beach and inland through rutted out sand roads. We won't mention that I stalled and got stuck more than anyone - and me being the one with 4x experience - how embarrassing! It was pretty cool to be able to drive right on the beach, and yielding to aircraft was something I've never experienced

Not very flattering, but lets be honest, how good can one really look after running 21.5km! before! We finally got to see some dingoes, just after dark they came out in a big pack wanting some of our leftover steak. Good thing they couldn't bust into the Defender! Andrea and I had one curious dingo scratching on our tent all night, but not to worry, I had a big shovel right beside me, just in case he tried any funny business! We were in denial about the cold and tried to get some sunbathing in. Joking that we could wear our bathing suits (togs, they call them), but we would need toques, socks and scarves.
Well, I'm officially accident prone, getting hit by a van on my bike ride home from work on Monday. It totally clipped me from the side and drove off. So I've been in and out of the cop shop and doctor's office trying to get everything sorted out. I'm okay, but still, who like to be hit by a van! and on a Monday!!
