Kaunas and FUN.

During the last weekend i went to Kaunas. Kaunas is a 400.000 inhabitant city in Lithuania, about 100 Km away from Vilnius. After a small tour of the city we went we went to a small restaurant and got some Lithuanian traditional food and beer, the food consists from boiled meat covered in boiled potatoes, and the beer was “alive” beer. The city itself consists from 2 sides, the old city and the new city, both of them very beautiful.
The nice part of this trip is that I met the AIESECers there and went to a party, to be honest I kind of missed a good party during the last month, so I really enjoyed this one. Besides party and sightseeing there were 2 days of work and getting to know the reality of AIESEC in Lithuania.
Some cultural differences: I traveled by train for the first time in Lithuania, and they only have 2nd and 3rd class. It was funny but our 2nd CFR class looks like a 5 star hotel if you compare it with Lithuanian trains.
Weeding traditions: When someone is getting married the guys are coming on the streets (in city center) with a horse and carriage and they are singing funny songs and ask for money for the young family and in return you can take pictures with them and the horse.
DAYS: Well it is kind of strange but in Lithuania during the summer the sun goes down at 10:40 but the light is still on the sky all night long, so you have a 24 hour day. Funny but you cannot see the stars during the night 😉. Sunday it will be the longest day of the year, I hope I will have time to take some pictures during the “night”. The reverse side is that during winter the day is almost not existent and the night is 24 hour long.

This week we have MC planning and then I hope on the weekend I will go to Siauliai a small city in the North of Lithuania, Monday we have the take-over party, Tuesday we go to Latvia for Baltic MC meeting, we stay there for 3 days and we come back to have BOA meeting, and the next day we officially start the term. I can’t wait to see the Romanian MC members of Latvia and Estonia 😉.
