New girls arrived on the Monday this week, Manon from France-Quebec, and Janice from California in the US, both very lovely and I spent a few days telling them what was good to do and getting jealous of the fact they had it all to come!

Tuesday saw more classes, with one of the clever kids, Danny, managing to break his pen, such that the nip flipped off and hit me on the forehead, now this would have been okay, unfortunately I managed to rub ink all over my face, and it just wouldn´t go! The kids found this highly amusing and I felt like a tit! Nevermind....Met up with some of the I to I recruits in the evening, but once more, most of them were heading off to the jungle and or the Galapagos, but then so was I! Highly excitable about it all!

Wednesday was supposed to be my last day of teaching, but it was cancelled, so I taught on Thursday (the bank holiday!) instead....annnyywayy, went off to the market to buy lots more stuff, celebrating the fact I had just emptied some stuff from my rucksack by posting it home, yay! Hope the parcel gets there though....we shall see....A bit of sunbathing in the afternoon with the girls and then out for dinner with some more folk from i to i and associated others and then onto ladies night, where ladies drink for free until 10....unfortunately the drinks have so much sugar in its almost impossible to get drunk off them! and they weren´t offering wine, triste, muy triste!! Ohh well, was an alright night in the end, but I think more drunkeness was called for, as always!

Thursday saw my very last day of teaching, was very sad to say bye, especially to Stefani, my favourite little girl...we played endless games for prizes of chocolate and sweets...I went into a local shop and just picked up everything they had pracically, still only came to all of $8...i love the exchange rate!! Hehe!

Friday we headed off to Papallacta Hot Springs which were fab, although it was raining....A wired situation, raining from above, while sitting in open pools of practically boiling hot water....so very wet though...mon dieu! Headed out for a few drinks that evening at a place called the Turtles Head, a Scotish bar, was nice, but a quiet night.

Saturday Hannah & I headed off to the Basillica, which is a church in the old town, but you can climb to the very top of the tower and there´s a fabulous view across Quito...the ladders were somewhat sketchy, but we lived to tell the tale!! Went to a museum that afternoon in an attempt to be cultured, was interesting seeing some of the history of the indigenous folk of Ecuador and how they lived....Went back to Magdalenas to pick up my bags, which somehow weren´t overflowing, said bye and I was off to a hostel, proper backpacker styleee..Out to a salsa place that evening with an Ecuadorian called Carlos who an Ausie girl knew, was good fun, but was absolutely wiped from sitting in a pool all day....I kid you not., so it was an early-ish bed!! Also needing to catch a flight to the Galapagos first thing in the morning...and it would have been such an arse if I was to have missed it.

What a kind teacher!
How sweet of you to buy chocs and sweets for your pupils!! I never do. Those hot baths look amazing and the basillica ladders sounded scary. Enjoy your trip and keep us posted"
