Last night we went to the Full Moon Party on Haad Rin Beach in Ko Phangan. It was supposed to be on the 31st May, but was changed to 1st June because of the Buddhist holiday.

We spent the day doing a spot of shopping in the town centre... well - I say a 'spot' - Fee and Bean dragged me around for 4 hours trying on dresses and tops and sarongs and insisted on stopping at EVERY market stall there was going. Normally I love my shopping but in this heat, I was practically melting away. After a gruelling morning I surrendered and had to head back with a small icepop in hand. The mighty pair carried on in the heat and returned a bit later armed with lots of bargains.

It was then time to start getting ready for the party! Yey! All four of us (our friend Charlotte was living in our hut with us too) slipped into pretty colourful beach dresses, armoured ouselves with jewellery and headed to the bar for food and cocktails. After the food, Fee and myself felt a wee bit sleepy so we decided to retreat back to the hut for
a small nap before the taxi came. We were jeered and taunted by Ed, Ben and Bean as they continued with drinking games, but a sleepy hour later (all napped out and ready to go) we all piled onto a jeep and set off to Haad Rin.

The atmosphere was amazing as we drove into Haad Rin (about 11pm). There were people everywhere and tables of drinks on each corner. As we headed down to the beach, we made a small pit stop at one of these tables and bought a few buckets of drinks.

We then found ourselves in a beach bar dancing manically to YMCA much to Ben and Ed's dismay... We roamed from one bar to another - each one blasting out dance tunes onto the beach. There were fire dancers, tattooists, body painters, people carrying monkeys and iguanas and Thai children selling glow sticks and flower garlands. We quickly equipped ourselves with various decorations - Fee scooped up a Nemo hat - and we all followed her around the beach...

After a lot of dancing we felt that some body paint was in need, so we all painted 'pretty' designs on each other.
(Bean just got a face full of orange paint). There were proffesional painters there too, so we all got a few paint tatoos on us in neon colours. I got a butterfly on my back and a star on my cheek, Fee got 3 stars on her leg and Bean got something rather obscene on her arm...

It was at this point that Fee and Bean managed to lure two unsuspecting guys towards them, leaving myself, Ben and Charlotte to continue busting out the moves. Fee's guy claimed he was a D & G model... we thought otherwise.

A little while later, we hit a big foam party, where we all soaked each other with loads of bubbles. Lots of fun. After a wash in the sea, we clambered ashore, looking like some sort of possee of sea monsters, paint smeared all over us, and sand and sea water everywhere. Very attractive...

The night continued pretty much like this until we still found ourselves dancing at 8am. The sun had risen and left the beach still packed with people dancing and drinking. The harsh light of the day wasn't too kind on our (by this point) rather haggered faces, so we decided to call it a day, picking up 3 hot chicken burgers on our way to the jeep.

An hour later we had all passed out in our beach hut, only to wake up 2 hours later all ready for a full English breakfast! A very very good night was had by all...
