City Lights!City Lights!City Lights!

Yes I'm a geek.
Another excuse as I begin this entry - the keyboard on this computer is a nightmare, so despite possible typos making me seem drunk it is only 5pm-ish, so I'm blaming my tools!

Today we walked down to Golden Gate Park. It's a really long walk from the hostel - took us about an hour and a half to get too, but it was nice to see all the different districts on the way. We took a picnic and ate it in the Botanical Gardens. The park is huge, there was no way we could walk around the whole thing, but we say some nice flowers amd trees. And lots of cheeky squirrels (I'll put a pic up at some point). We wanted to rent a pedalo on the pond we went to next, but due to stupid high prices just walked around it, though we did see some cute ducklings.

Yesterday we went into Castro, which is known for being the gay district in San Francisco. It was great to walk down the road and see all of the rainbow flags on everything from lamposts to bins. The whole area had a really nice atmosphere. I'll also put
AT&T Stadium. AT&T Stadium. AT&T Stadium.

Very close to the water!

AT&T Stadium.
Very close to the water!some of those pictures up when I get the chance.

Yesterday morning we each had some quality alone time. It was nice just walking around and people watching. I also couldn't resist going back to say 'hi' to the sea lions again. We met up for a late lunch and had clam chowder in a sourdough bread bowl, which seems to be quite the regular meal around here. It was really nice, and worth the wait.

On Thursday we still had out Go San Francisco cards for the final day. In the morning we went for a tour around the AT&T Baseball Stadium. It's where the San Francisco Giants play - and is amazingly clean and full of adverts. It's nice seeing what all the fuss is about with baseball now though, and they'd be my team if I had to choose one. US sport is odd though, because they were originally the New York Giants and then to bring baseball the the West Coast they just moved the whole damn team.

After the Stadium we visited SFMOMA, which is the San Francisco gallery of Modern Art. There's a Matisse exhibition on at the moment, and it was really good to see the originals of all those famous works. We then visited the GLBT museum which was a bit of a let down as all of the exhibitions seem to be in progress.

We returned to Fisherman's Wharf on a Historic Cable Car - and though they travel really slowly it's a fun journey. They were the original methods of transport around here after they realised the cruelty of making horses drag people up and down the hills. It's a system of cables which are always in motion and drag the car along at a slow speed along a planned route. They were stopped for a few decades when the electric busses were brought in - but were brought back fairly recently and seem to be really popular.

We;re heading to LA tomorrow night, and then to Sydney on the 8th. Am not sure about the availability of computers from now on, but will write here when I get the chance.

I didn't notice any significant typos, so I suspect you were just drunk enough to counter the influence of the rubbish keyboard. Good show! Last two exams of my degree this week. Have lots of fun on my behalf :)
