California Freezing

I am currently on the most awkward computer I've ever been on (seating and screen-size wise) so apologies if this lacks proper effort!

We arrived in San Francisco yesterday - the airport was much busier than we've seen before because it's Memorial weekend over here (like Poppy day, but they make it last and get time off work). It took us a while to clear security, but the flight itself was only about 2 hours.

The hostel we're at is nice - it's handy having free internet (though I'm currently at the worst PC ever!) and the room's fine. Had no sleep last night though because of some guy in our dorm snoring louder than I thought possible. Aaron was of course completely oblivious to it in the morning. Am hoping he'll have moved on tonight!

We didn't do much exploring yesterday, just picked up our Go cards, and got a burrito for tea. The hostel's in the Little Italy area, and right near Chinatown so we get a lot of culture on our doorstep.

Today we have been out all day getting to see the city. It's a great place - though much colder than

They were so nice to watch. expect California to be. Not sure if I'm becoming a wuss after Arizona's sunshine but I am seriously tempted to invest in a scarf and/or hat here.

We walked down to 'Fisherman's Wharf' and went to a museum containing old fairground machines that are still working. Got some good pictures, will post them when I'm on a better machine.

We then looked at some war boats and submarines outside, and investigated the rest of the main pier. There are many piers in San Francisco, much more than I was expecting.

Pier 39 is my current favourite because it has hundreds of wild sea lions living next to it. I took far too many pictures, but they're just so nice to watch and listen too.

We went to a free cable car museum, which was actually quite interesting (and I think we'll be riding on one at some point next week).

We then saw Lombard Street (I hope that's what it's called, just had a memory block) which is a road which zig-zags down a steep hill. Apparently it's image is the biggest selling postcard from San Francisco. It was interesting to see, but I couldn't live there with so many tourists driving down all the time (and bratty kids running around).

We just went and cooked pasta and saw a lad setting up to play his guitar in the 'International Room'. May settle in there now and exploit the free popcorn.

Tomorrow we're going to Alcatraz!
