Ahoy all! Apologies for the lack of blogs but we actually havent had a chance to get on the net for the whole time we've been here!
Gonna have to give you a quick run down, cos its been a few days (so no details on each and every meal we have had, although I do find that the most interesting bit!!!!My belly rules me what can I say!)
I think we left you in Kuala Lumpur, we flew staight to Bali from there. Spent the first 2 nights in a HOTEL! in Kuta, the main touristy bit of Bali. We had a hotel room, with towels , hot shower and a blimming swimming pool!!! Hell yeah! 4 squids eacha night so not bad. In Kuta we went to the beach and had a look around, very busy place with lots of McDonalds! For all it's faults, it's still a nice place (not enough tourists anymore though, so yuou get pestered a lot everywhere)
Next stop, Ubud, the "cultural capital" of Bali, much cooler cos its in the hills. We stayed in a family compound here, much much cheaper than Kuta, also much nicer. Went for lots of wanders and saw a traditinal Balinese dance involving a strange beastie and a monkey. Amazing music, great dancing. We also went to a monkey sanctuary and saw, er lots of monkeys!!!! Took a lot of photos. We were in ubud for 3 nights.
Then got a taxi tour to Mount Batur, which is basically a volcano inside a volcano! It's absolutely beautiful and I was loving actually being a bit chilly at night! We stayed in a village inside the larger crater (basically fromt he volcano that created Bali), and at 3.30 this morning climbed to the summit of Mount Batur to see the sunrise. It was beautiful, and tghen we had a wander round the other craters, saw lots of steam! Aching legs now tho...
At the moment we are in Padangbai, a small seaside town on the south coast. Itr's really nice and you can snorkel and all that kabam. Will update on this as and when.
In a nutshell, Bali is very pretty, but very poor since the bombings, everything is very cheap, we have been eatingh for a pound a meal and sleeping for 2 pounds a night!

I assumed you were having such a good time you'd forgotten all about us suckers back in the UK! Bali sounds lovely - you should nic a monkey and let it travel round on your shoulder!! Oh, can you add Ali to your mailing list too please... he's feeling left out. Will e-mail soon xx
