So 5 weeks in Ecuador with constant Spanish leaves a girl needing a bit of the normal English lifestyle and language....So on Tuesday after classes Hannah & I headed off to see Spiderman 3 in English with Spanish subtitles- it enables me to learn better dont you know!! So yes, wasn´t the greatest film in the world, but nevermind...I was suprised quite how many Ecuadorians had chosen to see the film, esp seeing as they show it in Spanish at other times....but no matter!!
Wednesday it was time for the pub quiz again, and ohh dear, we did surpass ourselves...instead of second from last, yes, we came last!! We had a Media-English student on our team from the UK too, such a tosser, and in the Lit round he got NONE right, he even argued with the quizmaster, quite funny for the rest of us who couldn´t stand him! Hehe! So yes, we headed off to drown our sorrows, meeting up with Jen & Rachael (the Canadians from the weekend) for a few drinks....most of which were paid for my locals...mwahaha!! Ran away to Bungalow, the terribly cheesy club where all the gringos end up, and drank some more,
with some very questionnable dancing going on....I think in the absence of decent music I have turned into a gangster rapper!! Nevermind hey!!
Thursday nothing much happenned, went round to the Canadians place for a few hrs, but not much more.
Went in search of decent music on Friday night, having been told the "club with no name but with a red door" has indie-rock music....get in!!! So we start off with Angel & Matt (other Canadians) in Patatus, which has a happy hour until 10 with rum n lemonade for $3 and on 2 for 1, so you can´t really go wrong! Love it! A little decent music came on, but in the majority it was gangster stylee, no problem for my dancing no more!!! Seemed to be quite a crowd of us what with people we´d invited along along the way! The club with no name however was a little of a letdown, yet more gangster rap!! We now beleive decent music to be played on Thursday night, so if people are around on Thursday that´s where we´re headed!!
Anyway, Saturday saw us hanging around Quito, eating humungous pieces of chocolate cake, the picture has to be
seen to be beleived...think Bruce Bogtrotter in Matilda and your close!! We headed out to the market in the park too, only for it to bucket down with rain, but when we came back to the tourist area it hadn´t rained there at all, and its only 2 stops on the bus....very very strange weather!!
Anyway, booked to go to Cotapaxi on the sunday, leaving at 7.30, god it was horribly early to be up and about!! Almost missed the bus too as the bus from my house didnt turn up and I had to jump into a taxi, mon dieu! Not the best day to climb up Cotapaxi it must be said, but nevermind- was fun anyway!! And when I say climb, I don´t mean to the actual top, just to a mere 5000m!! The car park was at 4500, from there we climbed 300m to the refuge at 4800m, from which we pushed on another 200m to the edge of the glacier. Was really cool to get there, but reallllly hard work due to the altitude at which we were climbing.....from the glacier we ran back down (so much easier than walking!) to the refuge for some
well deserved lunch...mmmm! Anyway, ran back down to the bus again, and got on our very ancient and questionnable "mountain" bikes!! Was fantastic fun though going down the side of the volcano, down to about 3800m. We think we got up to about 25mph, was fantastic fun! Almost went off the track at one point, as did another Brit who was close behind me. My only complaint however is the bumpy bumpy track down which we came, it didn´t do anything for comfort!! Had about a 30minute bike once down to a laguna, but because we were at 3800m still it was killer, we actually had to pedal (shock horror!)
Absolutely knackered I eventually found my way back to Magdalenas. Is wierd I only have another week left here, well not even, I leave hers on Saturday....two other girls have arrived now and as I was telling them about what I´d done since I´d been here I found myself getting really jealous of the fact they had it all to come!! Ohh welll...pastures new!!

Not sure about your lesson on clothes. Your 'bra' looks more like a pair of spectacles and do they really need to add 'knickers' to their vocabulary?!!!! Glad to see you wearing a helmet on that bike ride. Sounds scary in the extreeeeeme.
