There may be Kangeroos in the area!!
Dear Blog,

Am sitting in an internet cafe in a small town called Kingston in Victoria on my way from the Grampians to start the great ocean road. Sould be really excited as its one of the things I have been looking forward to for so long, but I feel a bit upset today, just had a strange day yesterday. I set off on my road trip yesterday in such a great mood, everything just seemed good, had just picked up my bright red hire car, had bought some cd's, thinking about the previous few days staying with some lovely relatives and was thinking about the next few weeks coming up in asia and meeting up with Dave etc. Had quite a long drive and was quite tired, and even though most of it was in the pouring rain I had Pete Murray and Kasabian to sing along too. Anyway, as I was getting closer to my hostel, it suddenly got quite dark (its definately winter down here), and the road started getting really twisty as I started heading up into the grampains. When you drive along in oz there are always loads of dead kangeroos on the side

Apparently I will have to wear one of these in Vietnam
of the road, and I know that it is quite dangerous to drive at dawn and dusk, but anyway I had no choice, so I drove quite slowly just in case. But then all of a sudden all these kangeroos just hopped accross the road in front of me, it gave me such a shock so I slowed right down, but it so freaky just seeing them sitting by the side of the road and they have no road sense whatsoever. Anyway I carried on a bit further thinking phew, when a kangeroo hopped out at the side of the car and I ran it over. It was the worst feeling ever, and I just didnt know what to do. I couldn't even stop because it would have been dangerous and it was pitch black and I was in the middle of nowhere. Was really shaken up and then had to drive the last 20 k to the hostel even slower than I did before. Got to the hostel and then rang the wildlife people hoping that they might be able to go and see if it was alive or not, or if it had a joey, to resue that

Should have had my poncho on.
too if it was still alive. Anyway, felt like shit to put it bluntly. Then I spoke to one of my best friends at home who has just had some bad news, and felt so bad that I wasn't there to give her a hug. I felt so weird last night, having gone from one extreme to the other, and to make it worse I was the only one in my hostel so couldn't really talk to anyone about it. In the end I rang Dave in Laos and felt loads better after that. Sometimes just hearing someones voice can make things seem okay again.
Anyway, dont mean to sound all down and depressed its just I had to get it off my chest.
