My room mate in this hotel is insane & wakes up super early so I thought I would type a few more sentences. Y'alls comments make me smile, I'm glad you're semi-enjoying this. The pictures & personal stories will be much better, don't worry.

A hutong is a small, traditional city type thing with super narrow streets & houses in little blocks; 4 houses share a back yard (tiny) and the sons, daughters, servants, and parents each live in one. The guide explained the daughters live in the WEST where the sun sets because they have a dark future. Lame. I'm biting my tongue at all this sexist ca-ca. Oh well. There are little metal barriers over everything on the ground to get into doorways, which I thought was merely to make me trip every five seconds, but apparently is to keep ghosts out. Neat huh?

Something else I didn't expect was how GREEN the city is!! U.S. needs to take a hint; even with all the streets etc. there are beautiful beautiful roses, landscaped bushes, and trees EVERYWHERE!! I love it. The cigarette smoke isn't as bad as I was forewarned. WE've decided everyone is so skinny because of the food, and don't have the energy to cook better things because they're so thin. HA. KFC is everywhere; I've only seen one McDonalds... I don't get the KFC though (no, tyler, i haven't gotten a chinese famous bowl 😊 Ellen decided it's called Kentucky Fried China (eww).

We also saw the Olympic stadium for next year, SO weird but cool. I wish I could come back & go there! Ha. Okay, well I"m off for breakfast again (fried rice for b-fast anyone?? hehe) I'm SO excited for a new city, and lookin forward most to Tibet, although no one knows what kind of food we'll be eating etc. Adventure time! How many people can say they've been to Tibet? I will. AMAZING!!!! (I need to learn how to say that in Chinese!!)
