We have now spent two days in Melaka. It is a beautiful place, a far cry from the hustle and bustle of singapore. We are staying in a lovely hostel with an inner courtyard smothered in tall and hanging plants, and fish ponds adding to the serenity. It's ace.
Yesterday we ate at a buddhist vegetarian place where the food is free (although there is a donation box). There were a lot of people who seemed to really rely on the place and it humbled us to be there, with everyone there being so nice and some individuals taking the time to chat with us and others who showed us exactly what to o (it was confusing without this persons guidance! You went in, helped yourself to a plate, cutlery, rice, many many exotic dishes and two types of drink (not sure what they were!). You then washed up after yourself. It was a brilliant place. You've gotta love Buddhists, they really are the kindest people.
Today we went into a Buddhist temple which was very grandiose. There isn't a massive amount to do in Melaka itself so we have been relaxing, reading a lot, playing chess (or maybe i should say teaching sarah chess! haha). Just now we sat and listened to an incredible busker who played old songs on his acoustic, and had a rendition of 'i can't live if living is without you (not sure of the actual title!) that was incredible and actually made the song sound good!
We also unfortunately succumbed to our western desires and had foccacia sandwiches! they were darn nice though.
Sarah missed a very funny event out in her previous posts... while on Sentosa Island we fancied doing the luge down the hill (as she told you), she didn't mention that between buying our tickets and getting in the queue, perhaps 5 metres away, she managed to loose her ticket! Thankfully the staff there were really nice and didn't mind and let her on anyway!
Anyway, now we are looking for an organic vegetarian restaurant somewhere in the area of this internet cafe, so i bid you all farewell until next time. Oh, and we're off to Kuala Lumpur in a couple of days, back to the big lights of the bigger city.

P.S. I actually lost my ticket whilst in the queue - which was a good 10 minutes long!! - Sarah
P.P.S Don't we sound like hippies!!! I'm actually considering avoiding meat in Asia - you never know what you are going to get and I'm pretty squeamish!!!!!!!!!!! - Sarah
