The Memorial

The highlight planned is a trip to the USS Arizona memorial in Pearl Harbour. An earlyish start to get in the queue for tickets. This is a very popular location so long queues inevitable. The tickets enable you to see the filmshow (30mins) and take the boat to the USS Arizona (another 30mins). We are in show number16, scheduled some 3hours
time. The museum has much to see, it is a warm day and the harbour very photogenic.
The boat trip to the USS Arizona is handled very professionally, US marines, very smart! At the memorial, the mood is sombre but the memorial structure is impressive, standing over the sunken cruiser, a navy war grave. All very spotless and thought provoking. Having been to ground zero (in NY) five days ago, the comparison is inevitable. Both memorials are well worth the visit.

lest we forget... long flight (to Sydney, Australia). Bags to be collected at 5:15 and pick up at 6:00. Next stop Sydney, but not before the purchase (in the duty free) of a classy 'hawaiian shirt' which I will wear at barbequeues in the UK?

Pearl Harbour USS Arizona
I think the USS Arizona is an amazing place to visit as it have so much history about it. it's quite sad to think so many people died on the ship, but so nice to think they did it for their country! God Bless Those Men!
