Swimming in the waterfalls at Namosi

Well, I think we went to Namosi this weekend and I'm sure someone will eventually correct me if I have got it wrong. So, I was finally making it out into the "jungle" (everywhere is so goddam green around here!). We parked our cars at the end of the dirst road and headed down towards the river. We walked up the river, mainly actually walking in the water for about 30 minutes, which was great fun as at some points the water was up to thigh height. Of course, we still got quite hot and sweaty in the process, only to be duly rewarded at the end by the sight of a whole lot of falling water. Very pretty, but more importantly, very refreshing!

After a quick dip and splash around, including the fun game of trying to swim against the current (impossible, you just stay in the same place - great resistance training - no need for a whole swimming pool to do your 50 lengths worth), it was of course time to climb to the top! Only 4 of the brave adventurers accomplished this task and I was one of them! The rocks were pretty slippery but there were some good footholds and convenient long roots to grab hold of to pull yourself up. Once at the top a beautiful view awaited us, so it was worth the trouble. We took another swim in the pool at the top, where the water seemed to be even colder and then climbed back down for our picnic.

And what a feast it was. It seemed that everyone had brought a little too much food, so there was lots to go round and quite a bit left over. As far as I'm concerned though, that's always far far better than not having enough! After food, it was time to relax, digest and enjoy the sun, which had finally peeped through the clouds. We were lucky, it did not rain, nor was it too hot. It was just right. After a suitable amount of lazying around, chatting and gazing at the waterfalls (does that count as meditation?), it was time to head back home...and it was still only early afternoon - plenty of time to get up to trouble!

Well, I would't say Crete is a bad place to stay but to tell you the truth we don't have any waterfalls. So in a way I do have reasons to be jealous of people being able to admire and swim in them!! Nice idea, writing a diary and keeping us up to date.
