We just arrived yesterday in amazing tokyo and here are some of our first impressions :

- this city is amazingly clean : you could eat on the floor

- It is very crowded

- And above all japanese people are so nice , you have no idea ... there is always someone to help you : We even had an employee from the metro who offered us to help us zith our 60 pounds bags ( 30 kilos... Les vrais backpakeuses ...lol), and after, as we could not find our hostel (which is so nice : Tokyo International Hostel, but hard to find) , a guy saw we were lost and walked us to the hostel.... This is not likely to happen in Paris.

- It is really easy to get around : everything in the metro is written in English and there are signs in the streets. To eat in the restaurants : you just have to show the waiter the pictures of what you want to eat ( And the sushis are indeed amazing)

- Japanese women are so chic and stylish. They always wear high heels and skirts, even on Sundays. Amazing especially after the US.

So now, more about the touristy things we done:

- Dinner in GINZA : the local avenue Montaigne (but with thousands cheap restaurant on the side were we went . There were so many tables of men in suits coming to eat and drink Sake after work.
I really think they come to drink first (a lot) and eat after actually.

- Asakusa Temple and Meiji Shrine : very Peaceful and beautiful

- Shibuya : One of the most crowdy places ever... Tones of cool people to watch

- Yoyogi Park : a lot of funky japanese : just as you can imagine them dressed as waitresses....

- we also went to the city tower were you can go on the 50th floor to watch the whole city....

- Royal Palace : You can only visit the gardens actually, but it is still great with the cherry blossom trees.

- Mori Tower and Tokyo International Forum zhich were very modern with intersting architectures : We saw an really cool exhibition about humour in contemporary art at the museum of Mori contemporary art on the 53 rd floor of Mori Tower and it was indeed really funny.

About this week culinary critique:

- Sushi bars : they are every where and sooo good : they have a lot of fishes we did not even know existed.

- The real highlight was the Gompachi Restaurant where we went on Saturday : It inspired the decor of the fight scene in Kill Bill where Uma Thurman kills 200 japanese guys. We went there with Steeve, an American from Seattle who owns Japanese Restaurants who we met during our visits in the afternoon (There is so few tourists in Tokyo that it is great when you meet some nice people who you can talk to and that know places to go better than us)

We are having a truly great time. You should come and visit tokyo, it is great.
