Hi everyone,

I have been getting heck for not keeping up with the blog recently, but with all the bouncing around, and less developed countries I have been in, it has been more difficult to keep up with it... but I will get back at it now that I am in Aus....

Yes, I finally made it to the land down under, and am in Sydney right now... still trying to catch my second wind -- flight was 9 hours overnight, with a further 3 hour time change, and I did not sleep, so pretty tired...

I am now 17 hours ahead of home time (it is 7pm on friday nite here, and is 2 am back home).... on the next leg as I fly across the Pacific date line I will lose the day I am ahead and get back closer to being in sync with home time...

It was not that easy to get out of Kathmandu, what with the New Year holida stuff going on and peak season conditions (but having to stay one more night was pretty cool as they actually celebrate more on the New Years day/night, than on New Years eve, and I got some incredible video clips of stuff going on in the streets....) -- also, did not know there were so few places you can fly out to from Kath... but I pulled off a successfull "amazing race" tactic which moved me back into the lead!! Kept checking different travel agents till I found a guy who had a "connection" at Thai Airways... for an additional "fee" he was able to get me a seat on the one direct-flight to Bangkok... (apparently all flights were booked for the next week, with 100 people on wait lists!)

Got to Bangkok, and they were STILL celebrating New Years there!! And one of the things they like to do is run around the streets with water cannons and dumping pails of water on one another and everone in their path... I had showered and put on the only clean/dry pants and shirt I had, eaten supper and went out for walk... well, you can guess, I was soaking wet within minutes!! Was ok though, cause the heat and humidity there leaves you dripping all the time anyhow...

Visited the "Grand Temple/Palace" which was very interesting... Bangkok huge bustling city of 10 million... decided to head to Cambodia, short 1 hour flight to Siem Reape, which is where the "Angkar Wat" temple complex is -- spent a couple of days there -- hard to describe the feeling of exploring that place... quite incredible -- got lots of pics and video... much more impressive to me than anything I saw in Athens... a real sense of reverence, peace and tranquility, very important spiritual place for Bhudism...

Anyhow, will try to get some more pics uploaded over the next few days or so, now that I am someplace more "normal", where there is not so much a language and technology barrier as some of the places I have been...

Hope you are all doing well, take care,

Cam

Thanks to Redina
Cameron, I am so glad that you are able to have this experience not only for yourself but to share with our boys. I must say that without your very significant other, Redina, I would have had to ask you to cut your trip short due to my unexpected surgery. Without Redina's kindness, caring and generosity I don't know how we would have managed without you. God bless.
