Howdy everybody!

Let me explain what's going to be happening on this action packed site. Starting in May, and for the next God knows how long, I will be for the most part incommunicado. My address will be my folk's house (10922 Hobbs Station Rd, Louisville KY, 40223) and they will alert me if something comes that needs my attention. My phone will be my cell phone, although a majority of the time I will not be able to use it. I will be living out of my truck, both for mobility and for frugality. The best two ways to get a hold of me (and it might take a month or more) would probably be email (cmceachron@gmail.com) or responding to posts on this site.

So it's not May yet, why am I starting this so early? My goal is to get all the kinks out of this process before that time in which it will be hard to get a hold of me. It will be much easier to make sure this system is working and everybody who wants it is getting it if I do some initial stuff prior to going off into the great abyss.

On this travel log, I'm going to try to the best of my ability to record via pictures and stories what it is I'm doing, where I am, and all that other stuff. So one purpose is to keep everybody informed about me. The other purpose is to finely hone my travel writing skills in the hopes of one day being able to pursue the job of a Trek Scout (basically a food critic but instead of eating I go on adventures that people are trying to promote.

With both of these purposes in mind, please feel free to respond to any of my posts. Ask questions, relate a similar story from your youth, comment on my writing style, correct a misspelled word, whatever. Based on your comments I will modify my posts, as well as in my files at home (and by "home" I really mean my computer while I'm sitting in my truck outside of a place that has WiFi). I want these to be the best of their kind.

So that's what this is all about. If you got an email regarding this post, and don't want to get any more, just respond to the post telling me that and I'll make sure that I take you off before I do another one. If you know somebody who would like to get notifications but isn't (for instance if you got a new email address or you're one of my many friends or family who hasn't given me your email address) do the same thing - respond to this post telling me so and I'll fix it before I post again. I will conclude this first post with the words of Walt Whitman, as he can say it so much better than I.

Afoot and lighthearted I take to the open roads

Healthy and free, the world before me.

The long brown path before me leading

wherever I choose.

Henceforth I ask not good fortune,

I myself am good fortune.

Henceforth I whimper no more,

Postpone no more, need nothing,

Done with indoor complaints, libraries,

querulous criticisms.

Strong and content I travel the open road.

Walt Whitman

from Leaves of Grass

Happy Trails!

Yo Chris, good to hear from you! What are you doing on this adventure? Do you know where you are going? Working for NOLS? I live in Denver so if those wheels of yours are driving though here, give me a shout. Good luck, I look forward to reading about it. -Nat
