We arrived into Cairns at 10.30pm, after a three hour stop in Sydney airport. No idea what Sydney even looks like though! It was great to be picked up by Leanne, who took us to a mates house where we have had a mattress on the floor for a couple of nights. It always makes travel better when you have a local to stay with and show you what the culture really is like.

Yesterday we were taken to a game of Aussie rules football. We still have little idea of the rules, but we are not sure even the locals know all the complexities of the sport! In true aussie style, the spectating was accompanied by a fair amount of beer, leading to some interesting comments being yelled to the players. Luckily the local side did eventually win!

We have spent a few days wandering around in the mixture of hot sun and pouring rain. It reminds us of Fiji more than anywhere else, I guess due to the tropical climate. We have explored parts of Cairns, but spent the majority of the time searching for a campervan. We have yet to see one we thing could actually manage to get us to where we want to go, so the search continues.

Last night we attended Leanne's parents Phillipino party where we sampled some great food. We are staying in the spare room which has an internet connection, and so for the first time in ages can get up to date with correspondence etc!
