ups and downs...but luxury!

hong kong...what a city. i love it. china mixed with ny and london. big city mixed with beach and countryside. so much character! its great!

anywho, we arrived on the tour...and stayed at the ymca...yes i did the dance...it was very very nice though. so tuesday afternoon we explored nathan road, the ladies' market. then went for our last group dinner (very sad) and did the temple street night market!

the next day we went on a wild goose chase to get out vietnamese visas but did it eventually and for £25 so its all sorted yay! also checked into our new hostel...emma not impressed but realising i have to learn to love these sorts of places...then headed off to kowloon park to relax for a bit...and to the irish pub for a drink. in the evening we met jay and sascha, and went to the light show(by the harbour)...it was amazing! and then back to the same place for dinner (we're nothing without the leader matthew!)

the next day we headed off to ocean park...its like a zoo crossed with a theme park with ocean views...it was fantastic! we also ended up seeing a really impressive magic/acrobats show on ice! interesting! spent the rest of the day checking out new hostels for fri/sat but no luck. we considered moving into 24hr mcdonoals so we had a roof. however, we got in contact with a friend of a friend who works over here and has very very kindly put us up for two nights in his stunning flat on victoria peak! its utterly amazing! to say thanks last night we cooked him dinner...then relaxed with chocolate, wine and a dvd! it was fantastic! anyway...catching up and uploading photos today....he has such fast interent its great then heading off to stanley for some shopping soon!

Hi Both Thanks for keeping me up dated. Didn't think you'd have a problem with Honkers. Too much shopping is my view! Wait until you really hit Vietnam, etc. Try and look at the cultural side of things. Any chance of you picking up Wild Swans by Juan Chang and doing a bit of reading?????
