Holly the Wombat..Holly the Wombat..Holly the Wombat..

Please mum can I have one.....
…..thats the question I wanted to ask the keeper when we got to sit next to and pet the wombat today, she was one and half years old and called Holly, she was huge, but still only half her size she’ll get up to 30kg! (for those that still use imperial, that’s quite big). Should really tell you where I was to sit next to a wombat shouldn’t I…Well we’ve been to Caversham wildlife park its just north of Perth and was really good. Like I said we touched a wombat, quite glad we didn’t have to hold her, she was rather large and may have squashed me!
We also saw lots of kangaroos and wallabies, some even with babies in their pouches and albino ones too . We also got to touch a koala that was happily sitting in its eucalyptus tree (they are only awake for 4hours a day you know- what a life!) we saw possums, flying foxes, Tasmanian devils (which were hiding when we went to Perth zoo, but we actually saw them this time!) ermm…anyway lots of animals really, as you all know I love animals so I was in my element, my favourite has to be the wombat though, she was soooo cute and cuddly with her big fat tummy, awww{😊].

After the wildlife park we went to the bird of prey show and got to hold a falcon too, that was good as far as bird of prey shows goes There was a sticky situation involving the smallest falcon you’ve ever seen being ganged up on by four wild magpies!! Poor thing had to flap hard to get away from them, but she was ok in the end, I guess that’s what you get if you fly in the open air!!

I also finally found a pair of sunglasses that didn’t make me look like a fly or something out of space!! (you find bargains in the most unlikely of places!). We had a lovely day and were planning on going to Hillarys boat harbour, but will have to do that another day as the animals kept us a bit longer than planned.

What else have I done this week….well we went to Mandurah..and had another wildlife experience- in the estuary we saw wild dolphins!! Far far away though, but then we walked down to the sea past all the new apartments they are building (wouldn’t mind one of them!) we were just crossing the water over a bridge when I looked down and there was a huge (as long as me) dolphin just swimming by and then it friend popped up too! Squirting water from their little blow holes! It was as if they had followed us, they were lovely, I did my flipper sound impersonations but I think my accent may have confused them and they swam happily off into the sea! The dolphins did make us miss the sunset on the beach but we forgave them for being so lovely . We had a nice wander round Mandurah, quite posh place with lovely apartments and a big harbour, wouldn’t mind a holiday home there!

So I’ve had a very wildlifey time lately . Start our last week of work tomorrow, can’t believe its come round so quickly, cant wait for our trip though, hopefully lots more wildlife encounters to write about (just as long as its not when im in my sleeping bag and unable to move!!).

Hope everyones well and enjoying your nice weather I’ve been hearing about, hope everyone had a lovely easter too .

I’ll write again soon- bye for now!!
