Us, check out the tan!
Lunch at Paradise Pearl, Long Beach So we got bored of Lanta and decided the night before that we would leave for Phi Phi and spend our last few nights in Thailand back on Long Beach. We managed to book back into the beach hut that we had left four days previously and straight away felt at home. Just before we had left for Lanta we met an English girl called Claire who was at the end of two years travelling. Lets just say she was a little surprised to see us again as we had already arranged to meet up in Bangkok. The next few days were spent enjoying Phi Phi once again snokelling, chilling out and generally loving Long Beach. This time round Jo also went climbling, as in Railey it was awesome! Jo cimbed a grade 6A route. The company was called Spidermonkey, they were excellent, Jo would highly recommend them.
We visited another beach which was situated on the other side of Long Beach. Claire showed us the way, it was a bit of a trek but well worth it. This beach was really secluded and we had heard that dolphins passed through daily. We stayed there for most of the
Secluded beach
Beach we visited to see dolphins, which we missed, boo hoo! day, which was quite tiring for sarah as she seemed to have a five year old child named matilda, attached to her most of this time. Matildas parents owned the beach bar and small surrounding area, she could speak English, thai and French, quite impressive and what a place to grow up. We left around 3pm as we had to go to the pier side (Ton Sai) to make our weekly call home. We left Claire there and would you believe it, when we met up later that night she told us that the dolphins came about half an hour after we had left, typical!
On our visit to Ton Sai, we had a random encounter. Whilst on the phone a familiar voice said "alright Jo, hows you?" Shocked, the both of us turned round to see Pete (a lad we new from college) looking back at us. We had heard he was in Thailand but never thought we would bump into him. The funny thing was that Jo had just tried to call Kat and Sarah was on the phone to Anna, all of us went to college together! Unfortunatly we were leaving for Bangkok the next morning,

My, what a big swing! so we didn't get a chance for a proper catch up, but hopefully we will meet in Oz as we will be travelling the East Coast at the same time.
Time to leave Phi Phi for the last time, how very sad are we! We like it so much we were thinking of hiding out there in secret. We had one offer from a Thai man, he drove one of the longtail boats that took us from Long Beach to Ton Sai. One day he said, " I like english girls, this is my boat, that is my house, i have no lady!" We saw this as a come on, but decided against the idea. For the rest of the time we were there, he was know as 'Hasn't got a lady' very funny!
On to Bangkok! Once again the travel to our next destination involved some random and funny happenings. The whole trip from Phi Phi to Bangkok took around 18hrs and involved one boat, two coaches and a Tuk Tuk. We arrived in Krabi and had to wait two hours before we could catch a coach to Surat Thani, to get yet another coach to Bangkok.
The coach to Surat Thani dropped us off at yet another cafe/ bus stop where we exchanged our tickets for another sticker which we hoped would get us to bangkok. We were then bundled into the back of a Tuk Tuk, not knowing where we were going and with everyone looking nervously at the roof and praying that their backpack wouldn't be the one to fall off. We were dropped off at yet another bizzare bus stop/pick up point. At this point we were feeling a little peckish, luckily we could order some vegetable rice to take away. As the coach pulled up she said it would be ok and that she would get it to us before we pulled away. We all piled on and true to her word she appeared with our food. Once on our way, we were treated to possibly the most rubbish film we have ever scene, about a group of friends that got stuck in the sea as they didn't put the ladder down properly on their yatchet. There was a sigh of relief from the whole coach as the film finished, which was followed by a cry of despair as the film started
Longtail Boats
Taken at Ton Sai again! Luckily we both fell asleep and were quite content until we were rudely awoken by a very loud man. He was shouting "last stop, last stop, eat now, you must eat now, one hour" Being 1am, suprisingly we were not too hungry and having just woken up, a little disorientated too. Once off the bus the same man continued to shout at people and flash his torch in their faces. Everyone was looking around at each other, all with same lost, slightly fearful look on their faces. People were eating even though they didn't really want too, and as the one hour stop was up, everyone would jump back on their bus promptly through fear of losing their lives!
We arrived in bangkok at around 5.30am, we grabbed our backpacks and headed for the Royal Hotel. Compared to the last six weeks, here, we felt like royalty. Our bags were carried to our room by a porter, we had big single comfy beds, air con and hot shower, we were in heaven! We felt alot more settled in bangkok this time round compared to when we first arrived wide eyed like lambs to the slaughter. We had experienced
Why carry them!
Arriving at Krabi, a short way into our long journey. alot in the past six weeks, so this now seemed such a breeze. For dinner that night, we headed to our favourite restaurant, Silk Bar, every meal we have had there has been lovely. We got chatting to a couple of people (Ben and Lucy) who were sat next us. They had just been travelling through Oz and just arrived in thailand, and we had been travelling through Thailand and were just heading to Oz, so the conversation was endless. We arranged to meet them the next night for a few drinks, by then Claire would have arrived from Phi Phi. It was a fab night, the bulk of it being spent in Gullivers, this palce is a must for backpackers. Unfortunatly, the amount of alchohol consumed, meant that Ronald McDonald got little harrased at the end of the evening!
Our time in Thailand has come to an end, it has been an amazing six weeks and we have already been planning our return visit. We are sad to be leaving. but feel excited for what is ahead of us, so its off to Australia!
