Just a short note to let you all know that I had a spectacular trekk into base camp and am now back in Namche... I will follow up with more details tomorrow when I get down to Lukla...

Hopefully some of you have done the google earth thing -- because it will give you a better picture of all the places I have been along the trek from Lukla up to Gorek Shep and into base camp...

On Sunday nite I wrote in my journal, that "Air of anticipation is high, as everyone making their plans for the push to base camp in morning... this is what we all came here for!!

It has been totally surreal up here in Gorek Shep -- more like I expected, very remote, only a few lodges, a few tent parties -- light snow falling -- we will be getting up at 5:00 am -- seems like the last 7 days has just been a dream... feel sore, tired -- but really ALIVE!

Monday night entry-- Perhaps the toughest day of my life, and also one of the most rewarding... truly the last outpost at top of the World!
After night with very little sleep -- cold, excited, weird dreams, I put on my warmest clothes, ski goggles / gloves and began the 6 hour return trek into EVEREST BASE CAMP!

The trek in was beyond description -- very, very awe inspiring and emotional... walking up the Khumbu glacier and ice falls just spectacular... and getting the closest pics of EVEREST. So cool to reach this special place, and see all of the expeditions tents (some of which we had met and talked with the climbers attempting ascent as we trekked up together).

To see first hand the beginning of the ascent route to the top -- and then on up the steps of camp 1 - 3 ... I hope the vids and pics do the place justice -- the aquamarine color of the ice, the sheer size and spectacle of it all ... the power, peace and serenity -- the "feeling" of quiet, and deep, deep. spiritual sense...

Large wreckage of Russian helicopter tha went down during a rescue attempt a few years ago... lots of climbers have lost their lives up here in attempt to make it to summit... "

Next day -- found a really nice place to release some of Greg's ashes from a small hilltop with memorials to fallen climbers... said a prayer and then captured a video clip of ashes floating up towards the heavens and majestic peaks... was very emotional moment... I miss him so much and am so thankfull that he left me a legacy of inspiration to embark on this trek...

Love you all, and take care... thanks for all the good vibes, love and prayers you are sending...
