Hi again everyone,

This will definitely be my last blog for next 7 days as we begin trek into Base Camp -- well things have defineitely taken a change of direction compared to the relative luxury of the lower villages and guest houses...

there are only about 6 guest houses here and the amount of trkers has been drstically reduced -- sorry about spelling, cold fingers 😊

understandable less people going on further given todays brutal hike up here to Tengboche ...

Hey, if you want to really see where I am at, just do the google earth thing, and look for Lukla in northwest Nepal -- then go up the valley and you will see the villages all the way up to Everest!!

This place did have the first restaurant that has had "western" music playing at supper time -- appropriately Eagles "Last Resort" from Hotel California...

Visisted monastery up here today -- possibly highest in the world, we are at about 12,500' -- the monk gave me permission to take some pictures -- took Greg's ashes and colorful bits of fallen prayer flags from my afternoon excursion in with meand said some prayers...

Even though the trek up here was hard enough, my guide Kim made me go for a hike to gain another 500' or so of elevation before coming back down, which is supposed to help with acclimatisation process and reduce the risks of developing altitude sickness..

sitting by woodstove in restaurant having coffee and journalling -- good thing I am writing down some stuff, cause my brain feels a bit foggy up here (yes, even more than usual 😊

Greg, Wade, and I did 7 days out in the Shulaps Range northwest of lillooet one time -- but this is so different what with the altitude, cold, and brutal grind of trekking up STEEP terrain... but the smiles on peoples faces on their way back down reassure that it is we4ll worth it, and that we will survive 😊 ...

the weather was actually quite hot up here today -- felt like 75 or 80 F
It is just an incredible feeling when you get a glimpse of EVEREST! -- the peak looks small from the distance, with other mtns towering in between.

The "feeling" i get up here is so difficult to put into words -- very spriitual -- emotonal -- moving... realising that you are living out something you have only fantasized and dreamt about doing your whole life... very, very, powerfull ... also the connectedness you have to other trekkers who are so similar in sharing a love of the mountains and spiritual philosophy...

Anyhow, look forward to updating you all in about 7 days...

Take care,

Cam
