Hey you guys!! (have to say like sloth from Goonies 😊 )

So I am feeling so much better!!! It's taken awhile and I've been in the dumps but now I am feeling soooo much better and have a really new outlook on Ayurvedic Medicine. I decided to go to an ayurvedic doctor here after I didn't start feeling better. I was really tired, sluggish, and not eating at all. And if you know me....welllll I like to eat. 😊

So I've started something called panchakarma. I am doing a month long detox that consists of a variety of things but it completely flushes your system of all impurities. It gets rid of any toxins left over from being sick, tobacco, alchohol, drugs, etc. It completely restores the natural harmony of the body according to Ayurvedic Theory. Basically the has three types of personalities. Vata, Pitta, and Kapha. People can be a combination of the three, two, or one doshas. But according to your personality you should adhere to a certain diet. Vata meaning air. Pitta is fire and Kapha is water/earth. I am a Kapha Pitta...I asked the doctor why I get so hyper during full moons and he told me that since I am made up of so much water the moon has more of an effect on me then others just like the moon has an effect on the tide twice a day. Anyway.....
I feel better after three days! The doctor has been using all natural herbs to treat my disentery and I am doing so much better. I don't think there is anything worse then being sick so far from home. I think it was starting to really depress me.
Anyway I like it so much I think I'm going to take a course here to learn the massage techniques they use because it's so different from any massage I've ever had at home.
Besides that I've finally started meditation. I took a course but I didn't really know if it helped me at all. I did meet a really nice guy from Poland though that has helped me with basic meditation techniques which begin with just working with your breathing. It's called
annaprasana meditation and is really helpful in learning to focus and concentrate. I've been getting up around 5:45 in the morning because it's so cool out....it's the perfect time to walk thru the town thru the hills along the ganges....sometimes I still pinch myself to make sure I'm not just dreaming. By about one o'clock though it gets to about ninetyish ugh! So it's the perfect time to meditate and then usually what happens so far is....I take a nap.

Oh my ladies!!!! The doctor told me a really neat way to lose weight. Maybe you guys already know this but I didn't and it's easy. First thing in the morning is have a glass of hot water with three teaspoons of honey. Honey by itself breaks down fat and works to curve hunger. Also he seems to have remedies for every problem I can think of so if you have any questions email me and I'll ask him! Okay I love you all!

diet explanation
Never say die! Oops. There's a more thorough explanation (or story, depending on your view) of that diet at the link below. I tried it one day with olive oil, and it seemed to work on the hunger aspect. Just remember to take your vitamins and start eating food again if your ribs break the skin--sheesh! hxxp://headrush.typepad.com/creating_passionate_users/2006/05/the_strangest_e.html (to avoid the link filter replace x's with t's, duh)

Hey Sandra! I'm glad you are feeling better. How much weight have you lost throughout this disentery bout? I'm sipping on hot honey water this morning. Ask if I can add a tea bag to my honey water and still lose weight. Does this water replace food in the morning? Also ask what herbs to use as a female aphrodisiac-hehehe. My dad is having a hard time controlling high blood pressure- what does the Dr. suggest he do?

book
You have to read "Ayurvedic Healing for Women." It's one of my favorite books. My mom and I read it after she was sick.

self
Sandra, I so enjoyed our phone conversation. It was so good to have heard your voice. I wish I had been there to take care of you...you know that nurse thing I do. I have seen people coming back in =to the states who have travelers diarrhea. For years when I traveled to Mexico I took 1 PeptoBismol chewable tablet a day. It really worked. AS for the herbal's they just make me stop and think huh!!! My thought ...if it is working and not addictive then kepp it up. Just continue to feel better. I say Brian, Ellen, Tra, and Ryan Thursday the 29th of March. Yes I drank several pink things. Everyone is good and send their best and thoughts. Love ya I will call thuis Sunday, Mama B

diet
I'm sure indigenous herbal remedies are valid to a point, but long-term diets may leave your fragile imune system incapable of fighting the bacteria, viruses, and possible parasites you have been exposed to. You were just seriously ill, you may feel well now, but your white blood cells, and other disease fighting agents are likely depleted. What may work for native Indians may not work for foreigners, who don't have the pre-existing anitbodies to cope. Traditional medicine asumes that the treated person is from that region, has been breast-fed by their mother, and thereby has evolutionary advantages that you simply don't have. I have no idea what diet has been suggested, but if it is void of proteins, and fats, or seems unbalanced in any way, please be wary. Sorry to preach western medicine, I'm just concerned. Much love and best wishes. So glad to see you writing again! P.S. A rasta guy I worked with went on a week long diet of water w/ honey, cayenne, and some herbal ingredients for the purpose of detoxing. He was really hard to deal with over those days... irrationably irritable (i.e. asshole).
