SURPRISE!

I did not expect to find internet available up this far, but there are new surprises around every corner -- today's trek to Namche Bazar from Phakdinge was the hardest hike I have ever been on... we started out at about 7,500' elevation and gained about 4,000' with a lot of ups and downs -- will be staying here for 2 nites to acclimatise to the altitude -- can definitely notice the difference in breathing at altitude -- every thing is more difficult to do...

Arriving here today was such a surprise -- so far from civilization, and such a hard trek here from Lukla that it is incredible this village is so large, about 1000 people live here, and in peak climbing season my guide says the guest houses and lodges can accomodate close to 10,000 -- there is electricity, and internet, and even hot showers!!

Last night at Phakdinge I was standing over the river gorge on a 400' long suspension bridge looking at the peaks overhead with the full moon shining -- impossible to describe the wonder of it all... I am still stopping often to pinch myself and have a laugh or cry... it is a very strong emotional spirtual experience up here for me,l and I can really feel that Greg's spirit is alongside of me, and that you all are sending me good thoughts and prayers...

Lots of people from all over the world here... a group of Koreans some of who will be making Everest ascent!! It costs 50,000 US to be on an expediton to the top!!

So far camera and music player working good -- It sure is nice to listen to tunes, expecially in places like the airport at Luka where the noise and clatter is almost overwhelming...

Kathmandu is like no place I've ever been -- it is "chaos in harmony", unlike Athens which is just chaos period.

I am at times just overpowered with the sense of how special this opportunity is and so thankful to be on this adventure...

love you all and take care,

Cam

my guide says the trek into Annapurna Base Camp is even more spectacular than the Everest trek...

Take care,

Cam
