TRAGEDY!!! BLOODY TRAGEDY!! Brave Brenda and warrior Susan, after spending the night pacing with nerves and having "1 or 2" little drinkies in the bar of the Base Hostel to calm nerves about our 12,000 ft skydive .....received the tragic news at approximately 11:31 am that we were unable to go skydiving today as the winds in Queenstown were too strong and none of the planes we going up. Unfortunately we are heading out tomorrow morning for Franz Josef, so it won't be happening in the next 24 hrs. Having said that, we still haven't ruled it out, apparently the company which was highly recommended to us here also operates out of Auckland, so we will just have to wait and see. It was a bitter sweet moment, part of me was relieved because I was soo scared at the notion of freefalling from a plane at such a height, but was also majorly disappointed because of the fact that we finally worked up the courage to do it and spent the morning "bowl hugging" again with nerves..ha..ha.

However, we couldn't let that get us down. Options are limited now as paragliding, parasailing, and all activities involving the sky

Susan being silly with the locals...whats new?
were pretty much canceled today due to the wind..which mind u I thought was quite bizzare given that the sun was cracking out today, gorgeous clear day...ah well, it was not meant to be. So with that news, myself and Brenda ventured off to the Kiwi Birdlife Sanctuary Park to see a real Kiwi Bird (such odd looking creatures, only 2 legs, big furry bodies, long beaks with nostrils at the very tip and whiskers), and a real live Mauri show and dance with the natives of the land. After this we headed up the Gondola and did a luge ride down looking out at the amazing sights Queenstown has to offer.

Tonight we just took it easy, had the best meal since leaving home---Beef stew in an irish pub called Pog Mahone's!!! Gotta miss the mamma's cooking!!!

Evil Wind!
Sorry to hear you weren't able to go skydiving, though I'm sure you're at least a bit relieved. Still, if you can, do try to go! It sounds like a once in a lifetime experience and that's what this trip is all about! haha. Glad to see you're having fun and were able to fill your belly on Irish stew. Look forward to more travel adventures! :)
