best st. pats breakfast ever
St. Patrick’s Day was a-mazing. We started out with a great breakfast of green pancakes with M&M’s in them along with some very good Irish coffee. Kelly and I came deck out in our leprechaun best already...pictures to come later. (On a side note, technology failed me this week. My internet connection was cut, my camera stopped working, and my cell phone ran out of prepaid money. Awesome.) Anyway…the breakfast was delish and it was fun to just sit around and eat. We decided to play a little beer pong later in the afternoon and that was also a good time. We all left for the rugby game…though a little later than we had planned…and made it there just as the guys on horses were coming out for the teams entrance. The stadium wasn’t as big as it had originally looked from the outside, but it was still good sized. The game itself was a little disappointing. I know nothing about rugby so I was lost as to what was going on on the field, and the crowd definitely wasn’t as into it as I thought they’d be. In fact, the stadium wasn’t even close to being sold out. But

we won.
it was a good experience, and the chicken and chips in a cup were good! We left just as it got over and made our way downtown. We ran into a couple from Pennsylvania when we were at the bus stop. They said we were representing American college students very well. This was in contrast to the kiwi girl in a tattered toga who, while at the game, had flashed the crowd and almost been thrown out because of her drunken behavior. Apparently her state didn’t get any better because she attempting to get into random guys cars so she could get a ride to the bar instead of walking or waiting for the bus. Thankfully her friends were coherent so they took care of her.
Anyway…so we decided to walk downtown and eventually we all ended up at Sullivans, this nice smaller Irish bar in the city. We had to wait in line for a bit, but it went by quick and was definitely worth it once we got in. There was a live band that was doing covers as well as playing Irish music. We stayed there until just before 2am (the bars here don’t close til

3am the earliest) then we went out intending to go to another bar, but decided getting food sounded much better. We asked around and found out about this Japanese place that is open 24 hours, so we went there and got chicken teriyaki takeout and ended up eating Japanese food in the middle of Cathedral Square at 2 in the morning. It was random and wonderful. Ice cream also sounded like a good idea so we went to “Hey, Bumpy!” which is this little shop owned by a nice Asian couple that we’ve stopped in before. They have smoothies and ice cream and burgers and stuff like that. We were the only ones in there and we were talking about the song from Dirty Dancing called “I Wanna Know If You’ll Be My Girl” (fh-ers you know it well). They heard us talking about it and had the Dirty Dancing soundtrack there and they put it on for us! Again, totally random, but great. We finally decided to call it a night and got a cab home. It was such a great time, I am too poor of a writer to make it sound as fun as it really was, but once my internet is back up and I am able to steal everyone else’s pictures that should help.
