Well for all those that were a little unsure that we would make it...we are here in the 'land of opportunity'
After about 37 hours travelling including 3 breakfasts, nz, sydney and the US we made it to our room after a myriad of taxis and pedal pushers.
Our first day consisted of sightseeing and shopping though we didn't buy anything. There was a great little area of shops down at Fishermans Wharf which had a fantastic shop full of music and movie memorabilia which I know John & Scott would love! Including signed Pink Floyd and Guns n Roses pics...
Today was the best as we rode the cable cars down the hill to see a misty view of the Golden Gate bridge and took the ferry to The Rock.
Alcatraz was all that we thought it would be and more. Dad- I bought the original 'Escape from Alcatraz' dvd as the place was so eerie and spectacular. We even saw the cells with the grates exposed and cut into. Frank Morris and the Angler brothers cells were decked out with the fake heads and we also saw and heard all about Al Capone - what a character!

Anyway we miss you all and hope that the weather in CHCH isn't too bad - seems we took the beautiful weather with us as we have had nothing but sunshine since we landed.

Off to the 'Big Apple' tomorrow morning - a 5 1/2 hour plane ride to JFK Airport.
Bring it on!

:)
It sounds great so far. Dad is going to drool when I tell him about the signed Pink Floyd stuff, imagine him in that shop, I would never get him out of there:) Same with Alcatraz, I am pleased it is as good as you expected. Weather has been pretty bad here, bit of a change to what we have had. We are taking Axel out on Sunday, Dad and I are looking forward to seeing him, I will take plenty of pictures and send them to you. Can't wait to read about "the Big Apple" next, that will be amazing. Love to you both, Mum XX
