Hi Folks
Right, so hear I am in Queenstown. If I could live anywhere in the world for a year, this would be it. Surrounded by the mountains of Mordor, this 'extreme-sports town' is so picturesque. They have a cable car which goes up one of the huge mountains so that you can look out over the town, lakes and mountains. Also at the top - the luge! Like little go karts except faster and at the top of a mountain. There was 6 of us so we had to have a little race (rude not to!). Didn't come last so I'm pretty pleased.
I took some 'geek' time out and spent saturday doing 2 Lord of the Rings tours. Fantastic! I had a hot chocolate at Isengard (Saruman says hi), to the top of the mountains that surround Mordor and many more. Travelled by foot and for wheel drive which was driven by a crazy Kiwi, but I lived to tell the tale (with wet feet). Went gold panning but alas came back with nothing.
And this morning...........I went paragliding!!!! I ran and jumped off the top of Coronet Peak, 700m from the ground. Awesome!!!!!!!
Queenstown itself is fabby, good shops, food and watering holes. Our hostel is great as we have a tv in our room. Although we have had to share a bathroom that has been......well.....I ended up with human poo on my hand, lets just leave it at that.
We said goodbye to Mel and Ricky from our group today which was sad. The remaining girls and I are going to finish off the South Island and then begin working our way back up to Auckland. Our time in NZ is just over half was finished (sniff!) but there's still plenty more to come :o)
We're off to Milford Sounds tomorrow for more LOTRs action and special scenery.
I shall add photos once I come across a decent computer.
I love the messages/comments/emails so keep them coming.
Off for a little sleep now! My paraglide has made me drowsy.
Tarrah for now!
Love Bex
