THE SUN !!!!THE SUN !!!!THE SUN !!!!

I really like this shot. Sun + classically pretty Amsterdammian canal. People, I get to see this EVERY DAY ! With the exception of the sun.
I used to think that it was only us tourists (and especially me) that had a near death experience every time we get on a bike. I have since learned that this is not true. Everyone, Dutch and non Dutch alike risk their lives every time they bike. I learned this while deciding to follow the Dutch, figuring they were wise to the ways of the road. I almost got hit by a tram. Since then, I noticed that there are a ton of "almost accidents". I probably see 3 or 4 "almost crashes" on my way to school which is only a ten minute ride away. I guess Amsterdammians have just developed crazily quick reflexes in order to compensate or the complete lack of traffic laws.

In the RLD its an entire canal that looks like this. I'd take a picture if I weren't so afraid of angry prostitutes.

Unfortunately
We have not developed crazy quick reflexes yet. We're working on it though. In the mean time we survive our traffic by planning our every next move, trying to read the minds of the ones we share our roads with and a lot of luck. Reading your sharp observations on our country and people is just so much fun, it's like growing up again, everything I take for granted now and sometimes annoys me seen by a fresh pair of eyes. Thanks!

Love the pictures. Looking at scenery like that everyday would certainly reduce stress levels. The tour of the RLD was very edifying. I was surprised that the government doesn't mandate regular checkups. It seems that a customer is not only paying, but playing Russian roulette. If the prostitutes have to pay 40% in addition to rent, it seems that they would be always working to get ahead. The job prospect sounds interesting and worthwhile. Take care!
