The Blue Mountains are a range of mountains just 2hrs outside of Sydney and can be one of the most beautiful sites in Australia. Sadly after being really careful and checking the weather daily, we managed to pick the one full day of rain since I've been travelling. Being mountains, we were therefore right up on the clouds and visibility was probably 100 metres. A real shame as I was really looking forward to seeing everything. Even better news which I was unaware of was that Lawrence had booked us on the tour which includes a 4 hour severe hike, drown the massive canyon and up the other side. Hard enough normally but with torrential rain at points making everything slippery, I was no happy bunny! It actually was a good day though. The three sisters was pretty clear even to the suprise of our tour guide, so got to see that (probably the most famous part of the region) and also did the train to the canyon floor and rainforest. It's the steepest train in the world at 52 degrees and was more like a theme park ride, pretty fun actually.

Even though I slagged it off, the walk

How can a kangaroo penis make 2 grown men laugh like little school girls? You should have seen me and Lawrence
although something that almost killed me, was very nice and we saw some amazing things in the rainforests below. Loads of huge rainforest trees, little streams with Yabbies in, waterfalls, Kangaroos, Cockatoos and loads more. The funniest part was me and Lawrence laughing like school girls at the Kangaroo with the boner, practically rolling around the floor in laughter, with everyone else wondering why we were so immature. Fast asleep all the way home on the coach, in all a good trip but a real shame about the weather.

Australia day was 26th Jan and is huge out here to celebrate the landing on the POMs (prisoner of her Majesty) all those years ago. The Aussies need no excuse to get drunk but this is a days holiday for them and I'd say 70% were pissed by midday. Me feeling the moment, obviously felt that we had a duty to follow the locals, hey when in Rome. So with a carton of goon (wine) we sat and drank. Went out in the evening too, strip clubs in Kings Cross which actually were rubbish and danced till 6am. Best part of the night were the fireworks, we went up to

52 degrees train, very good fun and quite fast!
the roof top of the hostel where we could see Darling Harbour. It was no new years eve but impressive topped off with possibly the most exciting thing I have seen for years. Very unexpected, as the fireworks stopped, this orange ball was in the distance on the horizon just hanging there almost. At first I thought the last firework, but this thing got closer and closer. It zoomed over Darling Harbour and finally we could see it. Afterburners on full blast, first blue then yellow flames from the back, a fighter jet flew right over our heads, I have never seen anything like it, the noise almost shook our building down but it was brilliant. Sadly no great photos as i originally thought it was a comet and the end of the world, so I was too busy trying to convince the first girl i could find to go out happy and get her top off quick. Didn't work!

Going to Canberra in a few day and then Perth next wek, speak soon!
