Today we left Kanchanaburi for a two hour songklaew ride to Ayuthaya. The ride was fun, albeit a little hot (if we had of taken the option of catching a fan cooled bus it would have taken us 6 hours so the songklaew was a great option). Dad I am keeping all pics so yeah nothing worry about there! After we arrived in Ayuthaya we headed to one of the temples built in the Khmer times named Chai Wattanarum. It was really cool! To show respect to the temple you must walk around it clockwise..just as we arrived however about a billion school kids arrived on a day trip so some of the pics have them in it. Was really hot as we got there at midday but it was still quite magnificent to see. Afterwards we headed to our hotel - the Ayuthaya hotel where we are storing our bags for the day. We had the option of seeing more temples or just having the afternoon off and so I opted to just have a swim in the hotel pool as it was so hot. Afterwards we came back to our room and there was a bed bug on my
lonely planet book...YUCK!!! so glad we aren't sleeping there, would have complained if we were but we are leaving in an hour to catch the overnight train to Chiang Mai. Tonight we head to the train station to have dinner and then catch the train..All the thais wear yellow as a sign of respect for the king (they all love him) so I will be on the look out for one to bring home. I have bought a watch (for $10, bartered down from about $30) from the markets as well.
