Edit Blog Post
As from the previous blog entry, the entire group was seething at my unintentional separation.
Anyway.. it will take some time to smooth things over with everyone... it seems that even though I left messages with the most obvious personnel and authorities( the tour guides VM, the destination hotel, and the local police chief in the city I got lost in) no one seemed think that I was capable of dialing a phone, so they didn't´t bother calling in to check.
Any way the team eventually got in to Cuzco 3 hours after I did.
Today we left on hour way to the aburamac (sp?) river valley for the first of 3 days of rafting.
The 5 hour drive was almost exclusively on rocky dirt roads, the worst part was the 10 switch backs down a mountain with an average grade of about 60 degrees. Lets just say the view of the valley was a little too close for comfort. (10 tonne bus, 8 foot wide crappy dirt road, 10 switch backs, 60 degree slope = life flashing before eyes for 2 hours)
We finally arrived at the waters edge and soon began our Peruvian white water adventure.
The water was colder than I had expected, but the intention was not to fall in.... so we planned.
We ran a few class 2 and 3 rapids and then found the loveliest of riverside campsites. No mosquitoes or flies, just beautiful scenery warm fire and great camp food.
