The story of Central Massachusetts: Field of Flooded Dreams.
I've put a lot of thought into whether I wanted to keep up a blog while away...It was a trickier decision than I expected. There's the whole question of audiences (i.e. Would it be for mostly for myself? Friends? Family?) and how I relate to each. I've decided for the moment to keep it as a kind of personal log, see how it develops, and then possibly release it. Totally ironic. I love it.

That said, let's set the stage in black and white:

20 yr. old college student: blonde hair, fondness for vintage belt buckles, inept in some areas, yet too-ept in others, ex-ept, wrestler of angels, lover of philosophers (philos 'o philosophers?) and fools. The right and left sides tug at each other. A 20 yr. old contradiction. A one, Mrs. Duck.

Some travel experience: the usual England, France, Italy...and the somewhat unusual Finland, Estonia. The requisite Canadian adventures of New England teens under her belt, she's ready (thinks she's ready, hopes she's ready...fears she's ready) to ride off into the sunset on her own. Maybe have tea with Tonto and the Lone Ranger. So far west she'll end up in Copenhagen, Denmark, where she's told

she'll fit right in. Tall (in heels) and blonde.

No African adventures, she operates East to West, West to East. Route 9 from Western Mass to Boston. Across the Atlantic to Scandinavia. A lateral search. A vertical being. Do theorists need dimensions?

The Parents (with a purposeful capital) recently divorced, she's concerned this might be an all-too-enjoyable means of "running away". Still the Wild West calls, in need of a break from a family that demands extraordinary attention. One too many awkward holidays. Far too many messy divisions. Gaps. Rough edges.

What climaxes to anticipate? Maybe an antagonist or two for a rich blend of literary balance? Somehow this conjures an uncomfortable image of brewing coffee. "Rich blend". We're already steeped in too many myths and memories. My American Dream, the Great American Novel, this is the Journey West.

I'm off in roughly a week. So begins the plot of Mrs. Duck's Extraordinary Adventures.

I really like the style of your writting. It is engaging to read. What was your motivation for travelling?
