under a week to go

Well this is almost it. Leaving in less than a week. This morning even mum (who must want to get rid of me by now!) was saying that I was going to be gone a long time, and that she would miss me. Sorting all the last bits and pieces, and trying to decide if I really will be able to cram the enormous pile of items on my bedroom floor into my rucksack (which by the way I'm sure has shrunk- the rucksack, not the pile although I wish that would!). Now wishing I had ordered everything further ahead as I'm not sure I will be taking any memory cards or prescription sunglasses unless by some form of a miracle the postal system speeds up about tenfold.

Really enjoyed my leaving party on saturday night. We had a great turnout- obviously people were desperate to see the back of us!! It felt rather like attending my own funeral (in a good way!), with everyone saying their goodbyes. Lots of photos to take with me to remind me of home. I wonder how many of those people will still be here when I return, or whether they all decide to follow from our example and head off round the world too. I wish all of them luck with everything they are doing while we are away.

Not sure whether to feel nervous or excited, but bring on saturday anyway!! (I think!)
