Edit Blog Post
Hello, welcome. Here it is, finally. Adam's travel blog. Soon to be full to bursting with, no doubt, the most exciting events ever to have occurred on the planet (or, more likely, many complaints about bugs). Sorry I took so long to get this set up. I did actually set one up when I arrived in Bangkok. Unfortunately, I forgot the login details.
So, here I am almost two weeks into my trip. I've been in Bangkok (crazy), Krabi (sleepy), Tonsai (Climby) and now Trang (kindly). I've added some photo's from the last few weeks below. There has been lots of stuff happening, but rather than recount them here now, I'll save them for lulls in excitement.
Today I decided to rent a motorbike and do some exploring. First, I decided to head off towards a place called Ban Pak Meng, which apparently has a beautiful coastline. While traveling there, I saw signs for an aquarium, which I love. When I arrived, a group of school kids were also arriving. As I walked away to the entrance, I heard a shrill scream of "Key!!!!!" (I'd left my keys in the bike). That was it, I was now centre of attention, and everyone wanted a photo with the freakish giant. The aquarium was great, even though I felt as much on display as the fishes!
After I left, I headed over to the beach. Because it's on the a university campus, it was pretty much unspolit and very magnificent (particularly compared to tourist beaches in Thailand). There was a shout of "Hello" and I was waved over to speak to some Thai girls. Turned out they were third-year students studying for an exam tomorrow, and wanted to practice English. They were lots of fun (that said, I would be too if my university had it's own beach!). After chatting for a while, we shared ice sorbet things, and had a go on the adventure playgroup, where I made everyone laugh a great deal by falling off some suspended netting and getting trapped while hanging upside down.
The girls invited me for a meal at another beach with some of their friends (after dropping off some books at their halls. It was really nice, much different from Glasgow! I had to wait outside their halls on my bike until they came out. I felt like John Travolta). The food was great. Tom Yung Soong (spicy seafood soup, with great big crabs legs and fish), papaya salad and fried seafood rice all under an amazing sunset. Thai beachs are so much nicer than farang ones. As it was getting dark, I bid them goodbye and headed back to Trang, on the look-out for a kopii ke-ke (strong, filtered coffee) joint.
