This place had a very erie feel to it..set in the middle of the forest
From Hoi An to Hue we were blessed with a nice short 5 hour trip with about 2 hours of lunch stops and bathroom stops. These short trips are a nice change from our horrible overnight buses. When we arrived in Hue it was the usual routine of the bus dropping us off at a Hotel that will pay commision that is out of town. So we decided we would try and find our own hotel. As we set off away from the bus we were followed by about 10 moto drivers, 15 cyclo driver, and 5 walking touts trying to get us into their "number 1 hotels!" It was our first time avoiding every single tout and finding our own hotel. It only took us 2 months to do this! The hotel we found was another great deal. Only 8$ got us a nice room with a huge balcony, hot water, AC, satelite TV and a minibar. Its definatly great value for your money here.

Hue definatly wasn't one of the most exciting stops on our trip. We were so bored alot of the time there but couldnt leave or we would have too much time in other cities.

Quite an overwhelming place with all the different sights, sounds and smells!
After being asked about 1000 times if we wanted to have a tour of the city by motorbike we finally gave in. We couldnt go wrong for 3$ for the whole day tour. We went to a bunch of pagodas, tombs, gardens and other random stuff. These types of tours are starting to become very repetitive to me. It seems the longer you travel the less toursitic stuff you want to do. It is alot more exciting for us now just to meet the people and soak up the culture. We still we go and see the major attraction but not everything like we did in the beginning.

Our second day in Hue was also pretty uneventful. We woke up really early as usual and it was pouring rain. The weather hasnt been great for most on central Vietnam. We basically spent our day watching HBO movies, reading our books, drinking tea and using the internet. I have finally realized while travelling for a long period of time you are not always going to be doing something. It took me 2 months to realize this also...haha..this has actual been the first time I have actually been bored and missed

Want to buy? Why not? Cheap price for you! Why!?
home. I think this may have to do with Christmas is coming and I miss my friends and family.

After three days in Hue we decided we would move on to Hanoi. The final leg of our journey up the coast. We have now travelled 1800kms up the coast of Vietnam. This 12 hour overnight bus trip was definatly not as good as the first one we had. The first one we had the whole seat to ourself to sleep how we like. It was actually really comfortable This time the bus was completly packed with no room! There were more Vietnamese on the bus than tourists which is rare. The Vietnamese are definatly not some of the most cosiderate people. They were blasting their horrible asian karaoke, yelling and left the lights on most of the way. Even the sleeping pill didnt work too well because I was so uncomfortable. We then arrived in Hanoi at 6am to be annoyingly greeted by a ton more moto drivers and taxis pulling us off the bus to take us to their hotel. Thankfully our hotel in Hue gave us a card to their partner hotel in Hanoi so we knew exactly where we wanted to go. When we arrived it was another great room. We then went for a nice long nap to recover from our bus ride..before setting off to explore the city.
