A big kids delight
The NationalRailway Museum Anne
Oh well - guess it was inevitable - and we've been doing so well! Think it was Ronans fault actually as he was very adament on Monday night "its you and dads turn to be ill.... i was sick on the plane and Talitha has sore feet from the mossi bites".... sure thing Tuesday morning poor John woke with his ubiquitous back ache and then i woke up on Wednesday morning with the delhi belly..... concencise is that i had a glass of dodgy Indian wine..... seems to be the only thing that i had which nobody else had. Anyhow, not too bad and hopefully that will be it...... guess i just have to bide my time to drink aussie chardonnay!! John on the road to recovery too but its been nice to have a couple of easy days in Delhi. I missed yesterdays adventure to the National Railway Museum but made it today to a fantastic site.....Qutb Minar... a 73 metre high tower surrounded by other fantastic archetectural remains (circa 1200). Ronan and Talitha seem to love running wild through the alleyways and ruins of mosques and cause a stir as they go!

Well having a four
Thomas the Tank for real
The NationalRailway Museum year old boy gives you an excuse to go to things like railway museums, and the one in Delhi was fantastic, suitably dusty and with no no go areas, you could wander all over and climb on the engines, of which there were about 30, and a wee toy train for a ride around the site. all for 20rp All real thomas the tamk engine trains, and it was interesting to see how many had come from Britain...Glasgow, Kilmarnock, Leeds, Manchester, as well as Indian built ones.
Qutb Minar was a treat, a minar (I think) is a big minarette, and this one was incredibly big and intricately carved, as Anne has mentioned the kids lve running around these places although Talitha has her nose in the guide book telling us all about bits. One incredible bit is a 7metre high iron pillar which is apparently 98%pure, and scientists have no idea how it could have been cast so pure with the tehnology available 1600 years ago...It looked a bit like a big old lampost, perhaps it came from Wolverhampton in the 1800's along with the trains....

Isn't it amazing how many of us grown men are secretly train anoraks (talking of which it continues to rain here "comme une vache qui pee!")
