Sunset in Santa Teresa
In the Nicoya Peninsula, Santa Teresa is a small beach town that attracts tourists for its clean beaches and surf scene.

I traveled to Santa Teresa from Samara by a shuttle (the public bus infrastructure is not good here). My hostel was on the main road (Santa Teresa has just one road where everything is available).

I spent 4 days there, enjoying the beaches, the sunsets, hanging with other travelers at the hostel.

And I began to realise that this trip is becoming about Chasing Sunsets. Will let the sunset pictures explain why.

I also did a day trip to Tortuga Island, famous with tourists for white sand beach, Aqua Marine waters and snorkeling. You go there on a boat ride from Montezuma, another small beach town half an hour away from Santa Teresa. The boat ride to Tortuga is fun, though sometimes can be a bit bumpy and expect to get sea water splashing on you irrespective of where you sit on the boat (protect your phone's carefully).

Having been there, my view is it's a tourist trap. About 300 meters of beach with 300+ people is no fun. So you can avoid it if

you are in these parts

My plan was to go to Uvita from Santa Teresa but I realised that transfer is too difficult. So I changed my entire plan and left for Quepos (pronounced K-Pos) to see Manuel Antonio National Park. When you backpack, plans are never final, they are meant to be flexible. Not knowing where you going next is a fun part of the journey.

Santa Teresa was an okay experience, but the sunsets are probably one of the best in Costa Rica.
