Another great concert...
.....ULUVUS...
Friday night and they were rockin' the crowd at ITECC, Tango stage...
I recon it was the best out of the ones I've seen, but what's up with that Lady???
Festivals, no matter what kind, seem to be THE thing over here. It gets terribly crowded, everyone seems to be overly excited and eats non-stop... I know food stalls are predominant at German events--> but we stop eating at some point!
I was told the festival had to be split, as there were too many people expected. So I was shocked how full it was at ITECC.
But it did gt so much worse... We went to the original location-That Luang-and it was pure madness!
It was way beyond the point where you get aggressive in a crowed because you can't go anywhere! A meter a minute... But this is Lao and people are so damn relaxed and happy in this slow-motion-mode, that you just have to calm down yourself. I hated it!
It got better after passing market area in the front and I had a great drunken night afterwards.
We got bands from the monks tied around our wrists for good luck
(quite tricky, because you can't move or be on a higher level the the sitting monk and you are not allowed to touch them as a women...)
We wanted to experience the full That Luang and did the walking around the Stupa (the golden thingie on the pics). We heard something about 3 laps and thats what we did. It was the day after, we got told it was actually 3 times 3 laps... It was good anyway. It is amazing how quiet and come it gets within the walls of the temple although there is is crazy festval going on around it. it was absolutly gorgeous. Glowing Stupa in the middle, thounds of offerings placed at its walls, flowers, candles and scent sticks everywhere, people quiwtl walking around and praying facing the centre and numerous monks sleeping next to each other in a covered part of the surrounding wall.
And funny Lao people drinking and laughing with us untill the middle of the night....

hey i was at that concert too, and it dig rock! ULUVUS just played another show at ITEC last night to a crowd of several thousand. It was incredible!
