While I could write a book on Salvador, I think I'll leave this entry short and come back to it later. Sorry to dissapoint, but so much happened here that writing an entry in an internet cafe just doesnt seem to suffice. Anyway...

The city of Salvador sits along the eastern coast of Brazil. It is something of a cultural mecca in Brazil, a place where Brazilian expression comes alive in Samba infused dances and Capoierra demonstrations. It has a long history, and the sites and scenery in the city date back to colonial times in some places. Pelhourino, the citiy's historical center, is a UN protected site with some amazing churches and all sorts of cultural activity. Tuesday nights in Pelhourino particularly explode with activity, including an impressive concert by a percussion band called Olodun(Im told they once appeared in a Michael Jackson video, they are certainly famous within Brazil).

I ended up spending more time in Salvador than planned, over a week. I even adjusted my flights to stay here longer and spend less time in Rio. I think here for the first time I got to see a more personal side of Brazil. I made friends

The old colonial city is now a protected site and a cultural mecca within Salavdor
with a few local residents, got to see plenty of nightlife, and even dated a Brazilian girl for a short while.

Ive got to say, Brazilian women definitely know how to dance! I think the the Samba inspired dance moves Ive seen here would make Shakira blush (Shakira is a pop musician known for her crazy dancing, for those of you who don't know. Hi mom!)

The downside of this entry is that for now this is going to be a bit dull. I havent got all that many pictures worth sharing with the public, and I'm not sure what stories are worth telling yet. Trust me though, I've had a great time, and will probably be back to Salvador someday.

Stay tuned here for updates, which likely will be added when I finally make it home. For now though I'm flying to Rio de Janeiro.
