Today has been a packed day.
We started off heading back to Hong Kong Island as Clare had discovered there is a beach (for once she hadn't studied the guide book to death). After catching the boat across, we then jumped on a bus and travelled through Aberdeen, passing Repulse Bay (!) and on to Stanley Market, which as markets go was a bit tacky, but the beach was lovely and the weather more so - a hot and pleasant 28 degrees!
This evening we have travelled to Victoria Peak which has a cable car which takes you about 396 metres high into the hill side of Hong Hong with amazing night time views of the harbour. Many residents live even higher up the island and construction is still ongoing. This trip is not to be missed, it is beautiful and very romantic, certainly one for the couples!!
We have discovered something very important today at the tourist office, there are lots of organised trips taking you all over Kowloon (where we're staying) over Hong Kong Island and the New Territories, but most things they plan are actually free provided by the tourist board (or at a very minimal cost anyway). Which is great as many of the things we were planning to do were getting quite costly, so that has certainly helped the budget.
Aside from our accomodation being quite pricey, everything else has worked out quite cost effective, the ferry for instance each way is 15p and our meals work out to be about 3GBP per person. (Although Dan has said we are allowed to break our budget tomorrow as its my birthday!!)
Anyway its off to be bed soon as its about 10.30pm albeit we do feel like our heads have just about adjusted now.
Nighty night from us both,
xxx
