Kiribati, the Pacific island nation, has declared the creation of a California-sized marine reserve in the Phoenix Islands



Has to be a good thing - there is always a lag between declaring good intentions and the responsible behaviour that follows - so I expect the overfishing will continue for the time being. Anyone been to Kiribati - any more reports?
