EVS- European Voluntary Service

A little about how you- if European- can spend 3 weeks, 6 months or a year abroad with all expenses- Accommodation, travel, food etc covered and gain new skills as well as learn the language. I'm just writing to advertise this amazing opportunity and to ask for help in my project search.

I'm from Britain. I went to Poland in Summer 2004 fro 3 weeks with the European Voluntary Service(EVS). The servise is EU funded and sends young people (18-30) abroad within Europe for short-term( 3weeks- 3 months) and long-term( 6-12 months) projects. The flights as well as all your expenses when in the project are covered and arranged for you.
You can choose from many project themes- Art and Culture, Environmental, Young people, the disabled or elderly, communication, to name a few.
You gain full immersion and even receive language lessons.
You can check it out and search the projects at
http://ec.europa.eu/youth/program/sos/index_en.html - go to 'the database' for the list of projects- it's huge.

So that's the advert bit.
My situation is that I am currently in GD, P.R. China teaching English and want to go on a long-term project. I need to find a sending organisation in the UK, so I'd like to ask the Travelbloggers whether they know of one- you know 6 degrees of separation and all- it might be worth a try. I have sent emails to some but I'm just trying to see if anyone has more personal knowledge. Cheers.
