The Pacific Northwest! Check out Portland, and the Columbia Gorge. Hood River is an awesome little town that really does have it all: outdoor recreation, good weather, proximity to a major city and airport, good food, and a laid-back atmosphere. Your computer engineering degree would come in handy here, as there are a ton of high-tech companies setting up camp here. Plus Google in The Dalles, 20 miles east. Hi Dendaaan:

If Portland is your destination get ready for a lot of cloudy days which I'm sure you are not going to care for.
Where you live has mostly sun, Portland mostly clouds and rain, the same for Seattle. You may want to reconsider.
I retired to Arizona (a lot of sun) from Michigan (a lot of clouds and rain) and will not go back.
Sorry for the late news, I only signed up today.

According to me as I knew California is the best city because compare to another good USA city like San Fransisco ans Los angeles ,California is cheaper and u can get all the facility and maintain your standard.

Hey there,

I'm going to have to agree with magnum101. I've lived in Seattle my whole life, and I absolutely LOVE it! People can say what they want about the rain or whatnot, but it's a beautiful city with a lot to offer. You can find your forests, deserts (in eastern wa), and mountains all here. I'd definitely look into living in Washington if you have at least decided on the west coast.

Good luck!

Hi, we are going to travel through the US by car on August 8th through 22d (from NYC to LA using route 66 mostly). We are searching for the ways to spend less money for the trip. If you can provide us some room in your cottage or appartment for free or very cheap and probably some travelling hints, we would be glad to see you after as our guest in Moscow, Russia and provide you with guidance of exploring this unique city. So by fact we are just looking for new international friends for cultural experience and mutually attractive travelling deals.

About us: young couple 24-25 years old, both having fluent English, having excellent career for our age, educated etc. I have been in the US 2 times, have relatives there in NYC, my boyfriend travels to the US for the first time, but he has been in dozens of other places.

in case you are interested please email directly to me:

I travelled for a month in California and saw a lot of nice cities. My favourites are L.A. (you never have i boring day), Las Vegas (you will never sleep) and San Fran (One of the coolest and nicest cities I have ever visted).

Agree with Simen about San Fran. It's a very cool city with lots of great things to offer. Tourists leave the place with satisfaction. Will be going there next year and wants to visit a lot of must-sees. Glad I found this: www.mapjack.com/SanFrancisco. Reply to this

My vote is for San Diego or San Francisco- both very expensive but both worth it- I live in the Los Angeles area and promise the weather is the best ever. As a single, young recent grad- these or NY are your best bet.

Denver, CO is a beautiful place too. Four distinct season, lots of sports and outdoor living. Not as diverse as CA but more so than some of the other places mentioned.

I'm from San Francisco and honestly, it is a wonderful place to live. Just know that the weather is something to be desired though (meaning... it's very windy, cool, overcast, and misty). Summer months are great for a 4 hour window unless it was the summer of '02 when it got to 100degrees. Anyways... I think the transportation is spectacular (voted best/greenest in 2006-08) and it is still $1.50 to get wherever you need to get to.

But then again, even locals need to have a change which is why I moved to Southern California to enjoy the sun, surf, and sand. It has been anything but. Well, the jokes on me then. Anyways... I'm sure you will enjoy any place you call your home. And you have (ALL OF US) our best wishes for happiness.

Sincerely,

Hello All,
Please check out the fun and cool website www.cruisingwilbert.com A stuffed animal is traveling the world and pictures are loaded to the site of all the places he has been. It's really cool! Wilbert travels to many US cities, so you can get a small glipse of what each one is like.

I'm partial to Austin Texas myself. Lots of nice people, good looking girls, music and art. Reply to this
