What should I do with my car while I am away??
16 years ago, October 31st 2007 No: 1 Msg: #21802
I am going to be living in Ukraine for 5 months next year.. and I was planning on just cancelling my insurance and turning in my license plate right before I go. It will sit in my driveway, and upon my return, I will reinstate my insurance and get a new plate for it.

The only other (expensive) alternative I can think of would be to pay the insurance for that time all in one go, but then my birthday is in April, when I'll be abroad.. so how would I be able to renew my registration?? And I would really rather not spend the money on insurance when the car won't be in use.

What is the best way to take care of this? Reply to this

Have you talked to your insurance rep. about options for a car that won't be in use? Maybe they have a reduced rate for storing your car. I know around here (i'm not sure if it varies from state to state) that we get tickets for cars sitting around uninsured and/or expired plates. Reply to this
