Hey all, I was looking for places around North America that are scenic but not too populated or well known. Examples of such places: Lassen Volcanic National Park, Leslie Gulch (Oregon), Painted Hills (Oregon), Bruneau Sand Dunes (Idaho), Goblin Valley State Park (Utah), Makoshika State Park (Montana)... Stunning places that don\'t draw the crowds like Grand Canyon, Crater Lake NP, Yellowstone, etc Reply to this

Are Carlsbad Caverns well known? Probably. But I was shocked at the size of these caves. THey did a beautiful job of illuminating them, and when I went it wasn't crowded at all.

If you go at night, you can see the thousands of bats fly out, although I'd rather go during the day. And bring a sweater it's freezing!

Also, I know this isn't North America, but has anyone else seen the Cathedral du Sal in Colombia? It's a cave carved out of salt by miners near Bogota, and green lights represent God in the dark corners.. I swear, it's like the Dwarve's caves in Lord of The Rings. Reply to this
