Alamut region is famous for Hassan Sabbah Castle and each year many tourists visit the castle, Ovan lake and the spectacular nature, specially during Spring and Summer time.
Alamut region is famous for Hassan Sabbah Castle and each year many tourists visit the castle, Ovan lake and the spectacular nature, specially during Spring and Summer time.
It takes between 1.5 to 2 hours to reach to the castle. There are two options:
1) Take a shared taxi near Minoodar (Gharibkosh) square which just takes you to Gazorkhan village near the castle and it’s almost 12 dollars per person for a round trip. You should walk for 10 minutes to reach the entrance of the castle. The entrance fee to visit the castle is also 4 dollars = 15000 tomans.
2) Our offer is to rent a car with a fluent English-speaking driver. You can go hiking in Andej Valley, then go to the castle and visit Ovan lake on the way back. We can also visit Lambsar Castle. The castle is above the mountain, then be ready to take 20-minute or 30-minute walk to go to the top. Be sure to have suitable shoes. Wearing sandals or slippers are not recommended.
