Hello Jesse--
Welcome to Travel blog.

Your trip sounds great---- you will have a good time.

Maui is a great island. Reasonably priced hotels are subjective in Hawaii. You might check out a condo unit at Kaanapali Alii.
I would recommend day trips. We loved the bike trip down from Haleakala. It is a sunrise tour....they pick you up very early but certainly worth every minute. This trip is not strenuous we promise. You won't regret this.

Lots of scenic drives if you rent a car.

Oahu has lots of W.W.II history and fantastic beaches. The dole pineapple tour is nice. It let's you understand the history of the island better. Again scenic drives around the island.

Have fun and hope you will blog about it.

I'd recommend the Polynesian Cultural Centre in Oahu, interesting trip, nice food and an amazing show.

As Dave and Merry Jo said, there is a lot of WWII history and Pearl Harbour is a 100% must see.
